چکیده
This paper presents a simulation model of a binder of asymmetric digital subscriber lines (ADSL). The model is developed in the Simulink environment and enables the investigation of multicarrier communication aspects in the complex system of a loop binder interconnecting the customer premises with the nearby central office. Key features of the model architecture are the update of the model block parameters during simulation and the interconnection of the simulation environment with a reprogrammable hardware platform that facilitates the substitution of selected model components with prototype circuit modules. The mixedlevel setup of the ADSL binder model and the hardware platform constitutes a versatile environment for the development and investigation of new single-modem and/or centralized algorithms for the ADSL technology.

Joint Signaling Strategies for Maximizing the Capacity of Twisted Pair Loops
A method for approaching the capacity of the twisted pair channel is presented and analyzed. It is then applied to two twisted pair channels that appear in the literature. Although all results represent lower bounds on the true capacity of the channel, the information rate resulting from the application of the optimal signaling strategy presented in this paper is a signiicant improvement over w...
متن کاملSpectral Compatibility of ADSL and VDSL, Part 2: The Impact of ADSL on VDSL Performance
This contribution examines the effect of ADSL on VDSL when both reside in a single binder group. The potential loss in VDSL bit rate due to the presence of ADSL is qualified using channel capacity arguments. Of particular interest is the impact of the ADSL PSD beyond 1.104 MHz on VDSL performance, as high-level ADSL energy in this region can substantially impair achievable VDSL bit rates. The c...
متن کاملPerformance of splitterless DSL at higher speeds (99-558)
This document reports on performance of a splitterless "V/ADSL" system that uses DMT with 4.3125 kHz wide tones over the band from DC to 5 MHz. Asymmetric 26/3.2 Mbps V/ADSL service reaches over 3000 feet, while symmetric service at 6.5 Mbps and 3.2 Mbps reaches are 3000 to 6000 feet for the conventional (or digitally duplexed) DMT. These ranges are maintained even in the presence of bridged-ta...
متن کاملModeling and Simulation of an ADSL transmitter
This paper gives a short introduction of Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) technology and briefly discusses its importance. ADSL uses Discrete Multitone Modulation technique and enables very high rate data throughput over normal telephone lines. This paper discusses at length the modulation scheme and also describes in detail the functioning of an ADSL transmitter Asymmetric Digital Sub...
متن کاملReprint Transmission Systems Prototyping based on Stateflow/Simulink Models
In this paper we describe an efficient methodology for rapid prototyping of data transmission systems based on Stateflow/Simulink models using a multi-level system development and testing approach. Transmission systems incorporate multi-domain functions and algorithms, i.e. physical layer circuits and communication protocol controllers. The Stateflow/Simulink environment enables the development...
